  BORUN V. CHANDA
1939 - 2011

2 December 2011

Mr. Borun Chanda, doyen of Indian rowing, passed away this morning in Kolkata after a brief illness. He was 72 and is survived by his wife and two daughters and their families.

Borun, who has always been known in rowing circles for his unparalleled passion for the sport, was a founder member of both the Rowing Federation of India (RFI) and the Tamilnadu Amateur Rowing Association (TARA). His life revolved around rowing, until his last days, and his contribution to the development of the sport in the country is beyond compare.

As a person, Borun was warm and large-hearted and many have been the beneficiary of his generous hospitality and his readiness to help. His infectious zeal for the sport has been responsible for many to take to the sport and continue to stay in it.

TARA pays tribute and salutes the man who is going to be sorely missed for his vision and uncompromising love for the sport.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE!
